Gary Clarke

Client and Business Development Manager

Career Highlights

Gary Clarke joined Rundles in April 2026 as Client and Business Development Manager, bringing with him more than 20 years of local government revenues experience. Over the course of his career, he has worked across several local authorities, building strong expertise in debt recovery for Council Tax and Business Rates, alongside wider experience in Sundry Debt, Adult Social Care debt and Housing Benefit Overpayments.

Gary’s background gives him a strong understanding of the pressures local authorities face and the importance of balancing performance with fairness. His experience across both operational delivery and client-facing roles means he is well placed to support clients with practical insight, sector knowledge and a genuine understanding of what good partnership working looks like.

Leadership at Rundles

In his current role, Gary is responsible for:

  • Identifying new business opportunities
  • Attending industry events and building relationships across the sector
  • Supporting existing clients with monthly performance updates and continuous improvement
  • Delivering revenues and recovery related training to clients
  • Working closely with colleagues across the business to understand client needs and deliver the right support

Gary is known for his can-do attitude and his willingness to get involved in every aspect of the business to better support clients. He enjoys meeting new people, understanding the issues they face and working collaboratively to find the right way forward.

Achievements and Recognition

Gary passed his IRRV Technician exams in 2015 and has been a member of the IRRV East Midlands Association Executive Committee since 2019. In a fitting milestone, he was elected Association President on the same day that he started at Rundles.

His long-standing involvement in the sector reflects both his commitment to professional standards and his passion for supporting local government colleagues through shared learning and collaboration.

Gary is motivated by helping clients and customers achieve sustainable outcomes. He strongly believes that education plays a big part in recovering debt and that the best results come from supporting people to resolve debt, rather than simply focusing on collection alone. That approach aligns closely with the Rundles ethos of Resolve Together. As One Team.

Life Beyond Work

Outside of work, Gary helps manage one of the football teams his 11-year-old son plays for. He also spends much of his spare time renovating his house with the help of his father-in-law.

We asked Gary...

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Currently singing — or more like screaming — along to Olivia Dean’s Man I Need

What’s your dream holiday destination?

I’ve always enjoyed the USA and would love to explore more of it, ideally by taking in a few American Football games following the Jacksonville Jaguars.

What’s your go-to productivity hack or ritual?

After reading David Allen’s Getting Things Done, I always remind myself that my brain is for having thoughts, not holding them. If I think of something, I need to write it down somewhere — otherwise it will never get done.

If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future — and why?

The future. I’d love to see what my son is doing and know that he is achieving everything I believe he is capable of.
